  17. PTF 446 is part of the PTF 445 series for NetWare HostPrint 1.1.  If HostPrint
  18. is installed on a NetWare 3.1x server, please download PTF 446 together with
  19. PTF 445 and PTF 448.  If HostPrint is installed on a NetWare 4.x server, you
  20. do not need PTF 446.

  56.      Installation Instructions:

  58.      1.   Create a directory on the server called PATCH.
  59.  
  60.      2.   Create the following three subdirectories under the PATCH directory:
  61.  
  62.                DISK1
  63.                DISK2
  64.                DISK3

  66.      3.   Unzip PTF445.EXE into the DISK1 subdirectory.
  67.  
  68.      4.   Unzip PTF446.EXE into the DISK2 subdirectory.
  69.  
  70.      5.   Unzip PTF447.EXE into the DISK3 subdirectory.
  71.  
  72.      6.   Unzip PTF448.EXE into the DISK4 subdirectory.

  74.      7.   The server must be active; however, COMMEXEC.NLM must not be
  75.           running.
  76.  
  77.           a.   Issue the UNLOAD HOSTPRT (If already loaded) command.
  78.           b.   Issue the CSDOWN command.
  79.           c.   Issue the UNLOAD COMMEXEC command.
  80.           d.   Load Install.
  81.           e.   Select the "Products" option.
  82.           f.   Press the INSert key
  83.           g.   Enter the correct path to the DISK1 directory, the INSTALL
  84.                program will install the appropriate files from DISK2 or DISK3
  85.                directory as applicable.

  87.                For example:

  89.                     SYS:\PATCH\DISK1
  90.  
  91.                INSTALL will inform you when installation of the PTF series is
  92.                complete.
  93.  
  94.      8.   Verify installation of the PTF 445 series using the following steps:
  95.  
  96.           a.   Load Install.
  97.           b.   Select the "Products" option.
  98.           c.   Make sure HostPrint is now at Version 1.10.8.
  99.  
  100.      9.   Log in to the NetWare HostPrint server as SUPERVISOR.
  101.  
  102.      10.  Follow the configuration procedure outlined in the NetWare HostPrint
  103.           1.1 Administration Guide and the Quick Configuration card that
  104.           applies to NetWare 4.0 users, even though you installed HostPrint on
  105.           a 3.1x server.
  106.  
  107.           You do not need to load the NetWare 4.0 shell (VLM) as mentioned in
  108.           the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide (page 2-18) and the Quick
  109.           Configuration card.
  110.  
  111.      11.  The new PRINTDEF and PRINTCON utilities create a new PRINTDEF and
  112.           PRINTCON database files, based on NetWare 4.01, that are different
  113.           from the NetWare 3.11 version.
  114.  
  115.           For this reason, you will need to run the PRINTDEF program to import
  116.           the devices you created with HPDEF.  You will also need to run
  117.           PRINTCON to create new print job definitions to be used for
  118.           HostPrint.
  119.  
  120.           Print jobs created previously with the earlier version (3.1x) of
  121.           PRINTCON will no longer be usable by HostPrint because their format
  122.           is different from the new PRINTCON utility (4.0X).

  124.           a.   PRINTDEF:  Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide,
  125.                starting on page 2-19, STEP NO.4, and follow the program
  126.                prompts.

  128.           b.   PRINTCON: Refer to the NetWare HostPrint Administration Guide,
  129.                starting on page 2-23, and follow the program prompts.

  131.           The new PRINTCON and PRINTDEF utilities that you install on the
  132.           SYS:SYSTEM directory of your HostPrint server are used ONLY when
  133.           printing from HOSTPRINT.
  134.  
  135.      12.  If you will be managing HostPrint from within Windows, read
  136.           PTF448.TXT.
  137.  
  138.           For NetWare printing, you will still be using the PRINTCON and
  139.           PRINTDEF utilities that are presently on the SYS:PUBLIC directory of
  140.           your NetWare server.  These files must not be overwritten with the
  141.           new PRINTCON and PRINTDEF files from this PTF.

  143.      IMPORTANT NOTE
  144.  
  145.           After installing this PTF, you will be required to log in as
  146.           SUPERVISOR to any file server to which you want to send the
  147.           HostPrint print files.
  148.  
  149.           The PRINTDEF database file is called NET$PRN.DAT and is created in
  150.           the SYS:\PUBLIC subdirectory when PRINTDEF is executed.
  151.  
  152.           The PRINTCON database file is called PRINTCON.DAT and is created in
  153.           the SYS:\MAIL\1 subdirectory when PRINTCON is executed.

  157.      The PTF 445 series is the first "patch" for HostPrint 1.1.
